P2D – POWER DISCONNECTING DEVICE ASSEMBLY
NFPA 70E Annex 0.2 emphasizes eliminating the arc flash hazard out of the equation so that risk is removed. However, when proper PPE does not exist, or the technician forgets to
bring it, working on electrical equipment with live power is not an option, no exceptions. In most cases, the only safe way for a technician to open the fire pump controller door is by
shutting down the utility power to the building.
The Firetrol P2D – Power Disconnecting Device Assembly Option supplies a fire pump controller and an overcurrent protection disconnecting device (FTA990), wired and
assembled, as one unit. With the incoming power being connected to the FTA990, simply place the FTA990 in the OFF position to completely remove incoming power to the fire
pump controller, thus eliminating the threat of arc flash potential within the fire pump controller. For additional safety measures, the FTA990 is lockable in the OFF position.
